QMU Connections & Other Useful Links
Explore ways to connect with other students and the university as you begin, during and after your studies.
You will find below some lovely resources that are available to you as a student, including how to find further support and training and access to student discounts!
1. Follow us on LinkedIn
Even at this early stage of your academic career, it is useful to think about how others can contribute to your success. While networking might be an unfamiliar concept right now, it is never too early to broaden the base of people who could support your academic career.
If you do not already have a LinkedIn profile, it is a good idea to get one started as you begin your academic career at QMU. Connect with academic staff and other students from both your course and wider area of study.
Look for updates from QMU's LinkedIn page to be kept up to date on university news and for information on networking and training events taking place both in-person and online, many of which are free.
QMU Business School and QMU Global have their own dedicated LinkedIn pages, which are also worth following.
2. Catch up with the QMYOU Magazine
Keep up to date with a range of exciting news and initiatives from QMU as we shine a spotlight on the excellent work of our researchers and academics, as well as our inspirational students and graduates.
3. Pick up a piece of QMU merchandise
Feel part of the QMU community and commemorate your time at QMU with branded clothing & accessories.
We are delighted to be able to offer you a selection of official QMU merchandise in partnership with Merchflow, a QMU graduate start-up business.
4. Follow QMU's Social Channels
Keep up to date with what is happening both on and off campus by following our main social media channels:
- Subscribe to our YouTube channel
- Follow our Facebook page
- Follow us on Instagram
- Listen to our Podcast
We also have a web version of our weekly Student News bulletin, which you should receive each week via your student email account.
5. Speak to our Careers and Employability team
While it may be early in your university journey it’s never too soon to think about your future career. Whether you already have a clear pathway in mind, or have absolutely no idea where you want to work, QMU’s Careers and Employability team may be able to help.
Please note that although many of these campus-based resources may not currently be available to our QMU Global collaborative partners, you may still find value in some of the supportive content found via the Careers and Employability Service. Do remember, though, that your institution's own educational team will offer similar support options to those provided here.
6. PALS YouTube (by Students for Students)
While some of the content available via the PALS YouTube channel is Edinburgh-focused, a good number of videos and guidance created by students for students can offer you some interesting perspectives and guidance. Worth a watch!
7. Student Union Resources
QMU Student's Union - Student Representative Information
QMU Global Students - Student Representative Resources
The QMU Global Class Rep Role Description outlines the role and responsibilities of being a Student Representative. Please contact your Programme Leaders for further information and training.

A student discount is a wonderful thing!
10. Your QMU journey continues...

However, once you have completed your studies, you are still connected to QMU, and we offer a number of services for QMU Alumni, including networking opportunities through QMU’s business pages on LinkedIn and advice and guidance from recent graduates. Check out our QMU Alumni & Friends page for further information on how to continue to engage with your university after you have completed your academic journey.
Or maybe you are already thinking about the next step and perhaps even Postgraduate study.
