QMU researcher attends royal reception ahead of Commonwealth summit
A PhD researcher from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh has attended a prestigious reception hosted by Their Majesties The King and Queen at St James's Palace in London ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
MD Rahman Rezaur, from QMU's Institute for Global Health and Development, was invited to the reception following nomination by the Scottish Government in his role as Secretary of the Diaspora Group for Global Citizenship at the Scotland International Development Alliance (SIDA).
The event brought together guests from across the Commonwealth and provided an opportunity to discuss the contribution of diaspora communities to policymaking, efforts to address global inequalities, and the promotion of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Scotland and internationally.
Reflecting on the experience, MD Rahman Rezaur highlighted the role QMU has played in shaping his professional and personal journey.
This experience has reminded me that, when we are given the opportunity to recognise our potential, we can find the confidence to use our voices, connect communities and contribute to positive change.
