Proposals sought for fee-waived Performing Arts Master of Research
As part of its 50 years of performing arts anniversary celebrations, Queen Margaret University (QMU) is offering a fully funded Master by Research position.
Prospective students are invited to submit a proposal for how they would investigate and present the history and impact of the various performing arts programmes delivered by QMU over the last 50 years.
Andy Henry, Lecturer in QMU’s Division of Media, Communication and Performing Arts and supervisor for the project, said that the proposal could be almost anything.
“It might involve engaging alumni to document how their experiences at QMU affected their lives and careers, or it might look at how the teaching and curriculum in the drama department has changed over 50 years. Alternatively, the project might seek to build a collection of oral history testimonies to add to the existing drama department archive, or it could be something entirely different. The only criteria is that the project should promote the history and legacy of performing arts at QMU."
“This is a really exciting opportunity for a prospective student to improve their research skills and it provides a logical step towards doctoral study or a career in research,” Dr Henry said.
Applicants will need to hold an honours degree in a performing arts related discipline (2.1 or higher), and the successful candidate will have their fees waived for this one year, full time postgraduate degree.
Proposals must be submitted by 11 January 2021, with research set to commence at the end of January 2021.
