Dominic is a media academic who has also worked across a variety of commercial media outlets, including as a foreign reporter in Northern Europe for the US press and domestically for the Scottish press and broadcast media. He studied for his PhD jointly at the University of Edinburgh and Uppsala University and was a postdoctoral fellow at Edinburgh’s Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities before joining QMU. 

His journalism work has focused mostly on foreign affairs and the environment, but he has also worked as a cultural journalist, commentator and TV news fixer. His main academic interests lie in the strategic communication of global change, narrative, and media innovation as it relates to climate change and the concept of the Anthropocene. He is interested in supervising students with an interest in media and the environment, journalism practice, global communication and convergent media.

He is also a published non-fiction author.
