Nourperichan Karali graduated from QMU’s Business Management programme in 2026 after studying at collaborative partner institution Metropolitan College. With a particular interest in finance, the broad range of topics covered by the course helped Nourperichan develop her understanding of business while exploring the areas she was most passionate about. Since graduating, she has taken her first steps into a career in finance, working in an audit-related role within the hotel industry and overseeing financial processes across three hotels.
Why did you choose to study with one of QMU's collaborative partner institutions, and what attracted you to the course?
I chose to study Business Management at Metropolitan College because I have always been interested in the world of business and particularly in its financial aspects. What attracted me most to Business Management was the variety of areas it covers and the different career paths it can lead to. I wanted to study a subject that would give me a broad understanding of how businesses operate while allowing me to discover which areas interested me most. Studying at Metropolitan College also gave me the opportunity to combine academic knowledge with a strong focus on my future professional development.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
One of the aspects I enjoyed most about the course was gaining a deeper understanding of the different areas involved in running a business. I particularly enjoyed subjects related to finance, as this has always been an area of great interest to me. At the same time, the variety within the course helped me develop a broader perspective and understand how different business functions are connected.
Were there any particular course activities you found especially interesting?
One of the experiences I found particularly interesting was taking part in a start-up competition. It gave me the opportunity to think creatively and explore how a business idea can be developed and presented in a practical and competitive environment. I especially enjoyed being able to apply knowledge from my studies beyond the classroom and see how different aspects of business come together in practice. It was a valuable experience that helped me develop my confidence, creativity and entrepreneurial way of thinking.
Do you have any advice for students who might be interested in this course?
My advice would be to stay curious and take the opportunity to explore all the different areas of Business Management. It is a broad field, and you may discover an interest in an area that you had not originally considered. I would also encourage students to see each assignment and project as an opportunity to develop skills that can later be applied in the workplace.
What's your' top tip' for making the most of being a student, and what was the most valuable lesson you learned?
My top tip would be to make the most of every opportunity to learn and develop, both academically and personally. University is not only about achieving good results, it is also about becoming more independent, learning how to manage responsibilities and discovering your strengths. One of the most valuable lessons I learned was that consistency, organisation and a willingness to keep learning can make a real difference, both during your studies and later in your career.
Can you tell us about your life post-graduation?
Since graduating in 2026, I have started working in the hotel industry in an audit-related role. I am currently responsible for the financial processes of three hotels, including managing invoices and overseeing payments relating to travel agencies, among other responsibilities. This position has given me the opportunity to work with significant responsibility from the beginning of my career and to apply many of the skills I developed during my Business Management studies. I am particularly happy to be working in an area connected to finance, which was one of the aspects of business that interested me most throughout my studies. I see this as an exciting first step in my professional journey, and I look forward to continuing to develop my knowledge and experience.
