Leonidas Konstantinos Bozikis from Patras, Greece, graduated with a BA (Hons) International Hospitality and Tourism Management degree from Queen Margaret University, delivered through its Athens-based partner institution, Metropolitan College. Leonidas tells us about his experience in this prestigious programme which allows students to develop the necessary personal and professional qualities that are essential for all professionals working in the contemporary Hospitality and Tourism sectors.

Why did you choose to study with one of QMU’s collaborative partner institutions, and what attracted you to the course?

I chose a QMU collaborative partner because it offered strong academic standards with the support and flexibility of studying locally. The course attracted me because it’s practical and industry-focused, and it matched my background, having grown up around a family business on a tourism-driven island.

What did you enjoy most about your course?

I enjoyed how it connected theory to real industry challenges. It helped me understand tourism and hospitality more strategically. I developed knowledge of the customer experience, operations, and how destinations and businesses can improve and stay competitive.

Were there any particular course activities you found especially interesting?

I found case studies, group projects, and presentations the most interesting, especially when we had to analyse real businesses or destinations and propose solutions. Those activities felt directly relevant to the industry.

Do you have any advice for students who might be interested in this course?

Use the course as preparation for real work, not just assessments. If you can, gain practical experience through seasonal work or internships, and always link your assignments to real examples and current tourism trends.

What’s your “top tip” for making the most of being a student, and what was the most valuable lesson you learned?

My top tip is to stay organised and start assignments early. The most valuable lesson I learned is that hospitality success comes from consistency and quality - small details, good planning, and adapting to guest expectations matter.

Can you tell us about your life post-graduation?

After graduating, I feel more confident and better prepared to grow in the industry. My goal is to apply what I learned to strengthen my career in tourism and hospitality, whether through management roles or improving a tourism business.
