Who is eligible for a funded course place?
Any person ordinarily resident in Scotland and meets SAAS eligibility, who holds an undergraduate degree (or equivalent professional experience), who is not currently studying for a degree level qualification, and meets at least one of the criteria below:
- unemployed or at risk of redundancy
- self-employed and working within the creative and cultural industries or hospitality, tourism, and events sector
- employed by a Scottish arts, cultural, hospitality, tourism, or events organisation
- employed by a Scottish SME, charity, social enterprise or public body
To be eligible for one of the funded places you must apply and enroll onto a full-time OR part-time course. Full-time study needs to be completed by September 2027 and part-time study must be completed by September 2028.
How do I apply?
To apply for one of the funded places you should submit an application using the 'Apply for this Course' button that you will find in the top right hand corner of the relevant course page (links to course pages are above).
As part of your application you will be asked to provide a brief personal statement, which should outline how completing this course will benefit your career and/or your employer. Please also use this statement to indicate that you would like to be considered for one of the funded places, and which of the criteria above you meet.
If you are currently employed by an organisation, your employer should be willing to support you with the time necessary to attend classes. As an indication, most programmes will require you to attend classes on one to two days a week during each of the twelve-week semesters. In this case your employer should act as you referee and they should confirm their support for the necessary time as part of the reference.
When is the application deadline?
The deadline for applications for funded places is 31 August 2026. The number of funded places is limited, and we will offer funded places to suitable applicants on a first come first served basis, so we recommend early application. Should you be unsuccessful in gaining a funded place we may still offer you a place on the course, should you wish to self fund your studies.
If you have any questions about the application process, please contact admissions@qmu.ac.uk If you have any questions about the course, please contact the Programme Leader.
