The Chevening Scholarship Scheme

The Chevening Scholarship Scheme is open to international students who have been identified as the leaders of tomorrow across a variety of sectors and research fields.

Applicants to The Chevening Scholarship scheme are required to be high calibre graduates with demonstrable leadership skills across politics, business, the media, civil society, religion or academia. Scholars on the Chevening Scheme come from over 150 countries worldwide (excluding the USA and the EU) and over 1,500 students are supported each year.

The Chevening Scheme offers international scholarships & fellowship opportunities and is delivered by the UK Government. The scheme is able to provide funding for successful applicants through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and aims to provide talented students across the world the opportunity to study on a one year taught postgraduate degree at a UK University.

Tuition fees for a postgraduate taught degree are paid in full. This money is paid as a grant directly to successful applicants and not to the university at which you will be studying.

Applications are required to be submitted online.

Once your application has been submitted it will be assessed against the Chevening Eligibility Criteria. Following this applications will be assessed by independent reading committees who submit their recommendations to your local British Embassy.

The British Embassy local to you will then inform you if you have been selected for the interview stage of the process. Before your interview you will be required to submit two references. More detail on reference requirements can be found here

Once your interview is complete you will be contacted if your application to the Chevening Scholarship Scheme was successful.
