I graduated from the University of Glasgow with an MA (Hons) in English Literature in 2003, following which I moved into Education with a focus on Literacy and Inclusion. I moved into work in Additional Support Needs within schools before progressing into an authority-wide management role with the Additional Support for Learning Service, leading a number of educational outreach teams, including the Inclusion Support Team, Literacy and Dyslexia Support Team, Visual Impairment and Deaf Support Teaching Teams and Hospital and Medical Outreach Team, including the CAMHS schoolroom. Latterly, I moved into managing SEND services in England before returning to Scotland to focus on Academic research.
I currently work as a Research Fellow within the National Autism Implementation Team (NAIT), a mixed-neurotype team, including professionals from Education, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry and Research. The team focuses on working in partnership with neurodivergent people and their families, focussing on supporting practitioners across Health, Education and Social Care in the implementation of evidence-informed practices across the lifespan and across a range of neurodivergent conditions, within the neurodiversity paradigm.
I am also Contract Researcher representative on the Research Committee, part of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Development Unit.
