I am an HCPC registered art psychotherapist and lecturer in art psychotherapy at Queen Margaret University. I have worked extensively with children, young people and their families, often within school-based services, and am passionate about how therapists interact with and understand the wider systems that people are entangled in.
Prior to training as an art psychotherapist, I worked in specialist health promotion, in the field of chronic conditions and blood borne viruses. I have a long-standing interest in feminist theory and praxis, and have been involved with various services across my career designed to meet the needs of women.
Affiliations (including memberships) to other organisations:
I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh, where my research is focused on the implications of post-human feminism for psychodynamic understandings of pregnancy.
Research Methods:
I am interested in autotheory, autoethnography, arts-based, feminist and postqualitative approaches to research.
I teach across modules on the MSc Art Psychotherapy as a lecturer, clinical supervisor and group facilitator. I coordinate the second-year interdisciplinary Arts Therapies Studies module alongside colleagues from drama and music therapy.
I currently hold a College Research Award (School of Health in Social Science) at the University of Edinburgh which fully funds my PhD research.
