Dawn Power (She/Her) is a Lecturer in Dietetics in the Dietetics, Nutrition and Biological Sciences (DNBS) Division. She is also a Registered Dietitian.

Dawn is a Lecturer in Dietetics at Queen Margaret University. Dawn is completing her PhD at the School of Health, Leeds Beckett University, with a focus on advancing intervention strategies for emotional eating in adults living with obesity.
Before entering academia, Dawn worked as an Advanced Specialist Dietitian in Tier 3 weight management, where she supported individuals with diverse health needs. She also previously worked as a Specialist Renal Dietitian supporting patients at all stages of renal treatment from pre-dialysis to post-transplant, across inpatient wards, dialysis centres, and outpatient clinics.
Her commitment to promoting equitable healthcare access is reflected in her educational and professional journey, which includes a degree in public health and health promotion (UCC) and a foundational career in the third sector before her qualification as a Dietitian.

Dawn's research interests lie at the intersection of socio-economic factors, emotional health, and weight management. She is dedicated to delivering personalised care and is particularly invested in understanding the effects of emotional and disordered eating on individuals living with obesity. Additionally, she explores the potential of trauma-informed care within healthcare settings. Using a mixed-methods approach, Dawn's research aims to inform holistic, compassionate interventions that address the underlying complexities of health and behaviour.
