Dr Kasun Dissanayake is a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Queen Margaret University, having joined the University in March 2024. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as the Collaborative Academic Lead for two transnational education partnerships: International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) in India and Imperial College of Business Studies (ICBS) in Sri Lanka. He is also a member of the Collaborations Operations Group (COG) and represents QMU Business School on the Student Experience Committee (SEC).
Kasun holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, completed in September 2025. He also holds a Master’s degree in Applied Finance from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, completed in 2018, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance with First Class Honours from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, completed in 2015.
Before joining Queen Margaret University, Kasun worked at NSBM Green University, Sri Lanka, where he progressed from Temporary Lecturer to Senior Lecturer and Head of Department during the period 2015 to 2023. His academic career at NSBM included teaching, research supervision, academic administration, programme leadership, student support, and departmental management.
At NSBM, Kasun delivered Finance and Accounting modules across several international and local degree programmes, including those offered by the University of Plymouth, UK; Victoria University, Australia; and UGC-approved Sri Lankan degree programmes. He also served as a research supervisor for undergraduate students of University College Dublin, Ireland, delivered through NSBM.
In addition to his teaching and supervisory responsibilities, Kasun served as Node Leader for the BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree offered by the University of Plymouth from 2015 to 2020. He also undertook wider student affairs responsibilities, including supporting student welfare, monitoring sports and extracurricular activities, and addressing academic and non-academic student concerns.
Kasun's main research interests are in the broad areas of Finance such as Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Working Capital Management and Sustainability.
