Nursing Futures in Action conference for students
Queen Margaret University (QMU) will host an exciting new conference designed to bring together every student from the BSc (Hons) Nursing and Master of Nursing programmes for a full day of learning, collaboration, and inspiration. The Nursing Futures in Action conference will take place on 29 January 2026 at the QMU campus, and will include all staff and students from across the Division of Nursing and Paramedic Science.
This modern, student-centred event aims to strengthen the sense of belonging across the Division of Nursing and create meaningful opportunities for students from all four years to learn alongside each other and to connect with academic staff. The programme features a diverse mix of presentations, interactive workshops, 10minute lightning talks, and contributions from the Head of Division. A poster gallery will showcase submissions from both students and staff, and several members of academic staff will share insights from their latest research.
The conference will also highlight the impact of QMU’s Peer Assisted Learning (PALs) initiative, which sees students supporting other students with their academic learning, and fosters connections across all levels of study.
Dr Georgios Tsigkas, Senior Lecturer in Nursing at QMU, emphasised the inclusive and forward-looking spirit of the event, stating:
This conference is about learning by doing, sharing experiences and shaping the future of nursing together. Whether you’re a first-year student, a final-year student, or a member of staff, your voice matters. You do not need to be an expert in your field to present or get involved – all of our nursing students and staff are encouraged to take this opportunity to learn, inspire each other, question and have fun.
Attendance is required for all nursing students from Years 1 - 4, and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
The Nursing Futures in Action conference marks an important step in celebrating the collective strengths, creativity, and ambition of QMU’s nursing community - and in shaping the future of the profession together.
