QMU student takes gold in Sustainability World Cup
A business student from Queen Margaret University has been crowned a sustainability champion in the 2025 Sustainability World Cup.
Student Aravind Rajendran delivered a winning performance when he took part in a simulation exercise which challenges participants to deliver sustainable solutions, taking home gold for the Judges’ Award for Best Green Market Strategy.
The Sustainability World Cup is an online course and competition which involves participants playing a simulation exercise where they can learn about sustainability and lead their virtual company to become the best force for good in the world.
The competition offers a contemporary way for students to engage with the important topic of sustainability, providing them with a platform to develop their ideas, showcase their talent, and ultimately consider a more sustainability-driven career.
The enthusiastic student from QMU fully embraced the exercise. He was commended for his performance, delivering one of the most impressive marketing strategies in the game with the potential to drive environmental and social growth for the business.
We are passionate about encouraging sustainable thinking and practices amongst the students, and we were delighted that Aravind rose to the challenge and really showcased his talent and innovative ideas. It was a great opportunity for all the teams to learn about sustainability, develop strong team working skills, whilst also putting their ideas into practice. We hope that opportunities like this will encourage them to shape their future careers by putting sustainability at the front and centre of their decision making.
The students will receive certificates of completion, which they can add to their learning credentials.
The Sustainability World Cup is an online course AND competition. It is a great way to learn about sustainability and how to use it to grow a business more sustainably. It is also a competition where participants can win fantastic awards. These awards will help the world recognise participants’ sustainability talent and help them develop a more sustainability-driven career. Entrants can also network with other like-minded people from around the world and expand their sustainability network.
