QMU ranks in the top 62% of universities in the world
Today (8th June 2021) Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh has been ranked in the top 62% of universities in the world for 2022 by the QS World University Rankings (up from 68% in the previous year). This year, the QS World University Rankings also places Queen Margaret University 66th equal amongst universities in the UK. The rankings compare the performance of the world’s top 1300 universities.
The eighteenth edition of the QS World University Rankings, released by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds, provide authoritative comparative analysis on the performance of the world’s 1300 best universities – 145 more than in 2021’s edition – which can be found in 97 locations. Now in its 18th year, the QS World University Rankings is perhaps the world’s most consulted and most covered source of comparative information about university performance.
Sir Paul Grice, Principal of Queen Margaret University, commented: “We are delighted to feature in the QS World University Rankings for a second year in a row which demonstrates our growing international profile.”
This year, of particular note at Queen Margaret University is its International Faculty Ratio (measuring our proportion of non-domestic activity) ranked at 331 globally and its International Student Ratio ranked at 129 globally.
The rankings are determined based on data from:
- an annual survey which evaluates the perceptions of academics from around the world regarding the best institutions in terms of research;
- views of employers around the world on the institutions providing the best professionals;
- staff/student ratio;
- citations per faculty; and
- proportion of international faculty and international students.
