What has been the highlight of your time at QMU so far?

My highlight so far has definitely been the time I was given the opportunity to go on a semester abroad in Hong Kong. Having taken part in this experience, it has enabled me to not only enhance my academic knowledge, especially of more international practices, but it has also allowed me to immerse myself in a new environment. Studying and living abroad has been incredibly enriching and has helped me develop greater independence, confidence, and adaptability.

Equally important, however, have been the friendships I have made along the way. From meeting people at QMU and the connections I have made during my time abroad. These relationships have been a huge part of making my experiences at QMU even more positive and memorable, and have made my time at university even more meaningful.

What is one thing you wish you knew before coming to university at QMU?

Before coming to university at QMU, I wish I had known about the Peer Assisted Learning Scheme (PALS), as it has proven to be invaluable since my very first semester at QMU. The way it works is essentially, students from the year above will deliver a supportive session that can cover a wide range of academic topics which helps to reinforce key concepts and deepens understanding.

What has been particularly beneficial is having the opportunity to learn from students who have already experienced the same module and assessments. As such, they are able to offer specific insights and provide useful guidance and advice. This support has not only enhanced my academic confidence, but also made the transition into university life much smoother.

What is your favourite thing about being an ambassador for QMU?

My favourite thing about being an ambassador for QMU is being able to share my own positive experiences of student life and showing others what makes QMU such a welcoming and supportive place. I have found the role incredibly rewarding, being able to connect with prospective students and help them feel more confident about their University choice.

I remember how stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed I felt before starting university, so being able to offer reassurance, answer questions, and make that transition a little easier for someone else has been very meaningful to me
