Playwright and screenwriter

Stef Smith is a multi-award winning writer.     

She graduated from Queen Margaret University with a BA Hons Drama and Theatre Arts in 2009.

Since then, Stef has gone on to build an incredibly successful career writing for stage, screen and radio. Her plays include 'Nora: A Doll’s House', 'Swallow', 'Enough' and the Olivier-award-winning 'Roadkill'. Stef's screen credits include the recent BBC Scotland drama, 'Float'. 

Stef joined Dean of the School of Arts, Social Sciences and Management, Professor David Stevenson for our first ever alumni podcast series, Going Off Script With..., which celebrates 50 years for drama and performing arts teaching at QMU.  

She shares her journey from specialising in directing to becoming a writer, speaks about measuring success and recalls her student days in Stevenson Halls.
