BSc (Hons) Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiography
This programme is delivered by Metropolitan College in Greece. It is validated by Queen Margaret University. Through our rigorous quality assurance procedures we ensure that the programme has the same academic standards as the equivalent award delivered by QMU.
Radiography education is a dynamic and evolving process that integrates scientific knowledge, technological expertise and compassionate patient care. Diagnostic and therapeutic radiographers play a pivotal role in contemporary healthcare, contributing to early diagnosis, treatment planning, image-guided interventions and the safe delivery of radiotherapy for cancer and other conditions. A strong undergraduate foundation equips graduates with the competence, adaptability and professional integrity required to practise safely within rapidly advancing imaging and oncology environments.
The BSc (Hons) Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiography programme aims to prepare graduates who meet European entry-level standards for radiographers and who are eligible to progress toward professional registration within the Greek healthcare system. The programme integrates diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy sciences, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the competences required for safe, effective and ethical practice in both diagnostic and therapeutic contexts.

Professional registration :
In Greece, the professional community of radiographers is represented by the Association of Radiology and Radiotherapy Technologists of Greece (ETAAE) which serves as the national professional body for radiographers. According to Greek legislation, the authority responsible for granting professional recognition to graduates of higher education programmes from European Union and third countries lies with the body of the Ministry of Education known as ATEEN (Autonomous Department for the Implementation of European Legislation). Graduates who obtain professional recognition through ATEEN may subsequently apply to ETAAE for a licence to practise as radiographers in Greece.
Applicants, in order to be considered for admission should have a Greek Secondary School Diploma / ‘Apolyterion of Lykeio’ or equivalent (e.g., International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, etc.) with a grade 10 or above. This requirement is in line with the Greek government’s minimum standard for access to higher education.
High school leaving certificates issued by vocational Lyceums, such as TEE or EPAL and foreign certificates which are equivalent to the Greek Lyceum certificate (e.g. International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, etc.) are also accepted.
Non-native Greek speakers, may be admitted to the programme on demonstrating that:
- a) They hold a qualification recognised by QMU for admission to undergraduate programmes, as documented in the University Admissions Regulations.
- b) They hold a certificate of attainment in Greek at Level D
(http://www.greeklanguage.gr/greekLang/certification/index.html)
Direct entry into the second year of studies is possible for applicants who hold a related IVT Diploma or HND. Applicants should contact Metropolitan College to discuss.
