BA Business Management
This programme is delivered by Borders College, in Galashiels. It is validated by Queen Margaret University. Through our rigorous quality assurance procedures we ensure that the programme has the same academic standards as equivalent awards delivered by QMU. Successful graduates have the option of progressing to the University to undertake their fourth year and achieve the award of BA (Hons) Business Management.
The aim of the BA Business Management programme, delivered at Borders College, is to enable students progressing from the HND in Business to develop the higher level knowledge, skills and professional confidence required to operate effectively within contemporary business environments and to progress successfully into honours level study or graduate employment.
The programme aims to equip students with an advanced understanding of contemporary business theory and practice, enabling them to apply analytical, strategic and professional skills within a wide range of business environments. It prepares learners for roles in management, marketing, human resources, finance and entrepreneurship, or for progression to further study.
This degree is designed for students who have already completed a HND in Business at SCQF Level 8 and who wish to gain a recognised university qualification to enhance their employment prospects. It is particularly suitable for students seeking to continue their studies locally within a supportive college environment while accessing a curriculum aligned with QMU academic standards.

The minimum requirement for entry into year 3 of the BA Business Management will normally be as follows:
- successful completion of an HND in Business (or equivalent SCQF Level 8 qualification in a relevant subject). Typically, applicants must have achieved CB in the graded units to demonstrate readiness for SCQF Level 9 study.
English language requirement
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 with no element below 6.0.
