This is the crest of HMS Urtica, found in the QMU archives.

But why is it there? The answer is that it was gifted by the crew to the Edinburgh College of Domestic Science at the end of the Second World War. The various schools of the college each ‘adopted’ a naval vessel or army unit during the war, providing practical support. One, HMS Goodwill, was sunk by a mine on 2 November 1940 in the Firth of Forth.
