Footage of a graduation ceremony from the late 60s or early 70s
This cine footage, found in the QMU archive, shows a graduation ceremony. The date is not clear but it would have been one of 1968, 1969, or 1970. On this occasion, graduation was held at the Assembly Rooms on George Street, and the ceremony was presided over by the then Principal of the College, Mrs Aileen King.
Future graduation ceremonies took place at the Festival Theatre on South Bridge, however, as the university soon outgrew that venue, in recent years, ceremonies have been held at the Usher Hall on Lothian Road.
