Sustainable Campus Gains BREEAM Rating

When our new campus was built in Musselburgh in 2008, it was regarded as one of the UK’s most sustainable, having gained a BREEAM rating of 'excellent' - the highest score of any university in the UK.

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) is a sustainability rating that measures a building's environmental performance against a set of benchmarks.

There is a sustainability-themed trail around our main campus building, starting in the main atrium, which highlights sustainable features of the campus design.

The institution has continued to put sustainability at the heart of its work, going beyond the physical buildings and embedding it into the curriculum.
