Tribute to Saint Margaret, Queen of Scotland (1045-1093)
This is a tribute to Saint Margaret, Queen of Scotland (1045-1093), after whom our institution is named.
Margaret was born in the Kingdom of Hungary to Edward the Exile, son of the English king Edmund Ironside. Margaret married Malcolm III of Scotland in 1070. A pious Christian, who would be canonised by Pope Innocent IV in 1250, Margaret dedicated her time to serving orphans and the poor, and oversaw the restoration of Iona Abbey, the founding site of Christianity in Scotland.
