Information for Students from Malaysia

At QMU we have a long tradition of welcoming students from all over the world. Around 25% of Queen Margaret University students are international coming from over 90 countries throughout the world.

Find out more specific information to help you plan your studies at QMU.

Entry Requirements

For undergraduate courses:

We welcome applications from Malaysian students with UEC (Unified Examination Certificate) and SML (Senior Middle Level) with good grades in appropriate subjects. Students holding Diplomas or Higher Diplomas from recognised institutions may be eligible for advanced entry directly into second or third year.

For postgraduate courses:

We will consider applications from students holding a good Bachelors degree from a recognised university.

Please note that the above is given for guidance only and that entry requirements will vary between courses. We may also be looking for a strong Statement of Purpose/Personal Statement, some work experience or specific subjects to have been studied at an advanced level. For more information see our individual course pages.

Scholarships, Fees and Funding

QMU Scholarships:

The University is pleased to offer a number of competitive scholarships of up to £5,000 each for new international students undertaking their first year of study on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. The scholarship is granted as a reduction of the tuition fee and is available to students who are self-funding with an international tuition fee of more than £9,000 for a single year of study only. Applications can be made by students who have received an offer of a place of study at the University.

Santander Scholarships:

Queen Margaret University is pleased to announce that a limited number of Santander Scholarships will be available to international students, up to the value of £5,000. Applications can be made by students who have received an offer of a place of study at the University. Please note that if you have already applied for a QMU Scholarship, we will also consider you for a Santander Scholarship and vice versa - there is no need to re-apply or to apply for both.

Further information on scholarships, fees and funding can be found here.

Please note that if you wish to apply for a scholarship award, you are strongly advised to apply for a place on the course of your choice as early as possible, as we will only consider applications from those holding an offer for a place of study.
