The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust - Postgraduate

The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust offers financial grants to students in financial hardship whose parents work or worked as Grocers or Chemists. Students are eligible if they are studying for their first full-time undergraduate degree at a UK University or higher education provider.

The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust awards bursaries, up to a total of £5,000, to students who have a parent, guardian or spouse that is employed as a commercial traveller, pharmacist or grocer.

Students can apply for up to £5,000. However, this is dependent upon financial need and funding available to the Trust year on year.

Bursaries of up to £5,000 can be awarded to be spent on:

  • Accommodation costs
  • Tuition fees
  • Living expenses
  • Educational expenses (books, equipment etc)

In order to be eligible for bursary funding through the Leverhulme Trust, students must:

  • A resident of the UK
  • Studying on a full time undergraduate degree at a UK university
  • The child, spouse, widow or widower of a commercial traveller, pharmacist or grocer
  • Be in financial need

Detailed guidance on eligibility is available directly from the Trust.

Bursaries are not paid directly to applicants. Should your application be successful, QMU will receive the bursary on your behalf and then pass the money to you.

Students ma apply for bursaries from the Trust for each year of their course. Once awarded, funding is paid for each of these years of study without the requirement to re apply. Unfortunately the Trust cannot offer funding for previous years of study retrospectively.

To apply, an application form available on the Trust's website will need to be filled out in full.
