The East Lothian Educational Trust
The East Lothian Educational Trust offers grants to assist with educational expenses such as materials, course fees and travel costs. Only residents of the ‘old East Lothian’ (this excludes Musselburgh, Wallyford and Whitecraig) are eligible to apply to the trust.
The East Lothian Educational Trust is a broad fund, encompassing funding and grants to individuals, groups and clubs for educational activities both in traditional and non traditional settings.
Grants awarded by the Trust are variable in amount. Because they are supplementary in nature and targeted towards educational expenses that are variable in nature.
Successful applicants will have their grant amount paid directly to them, into their nominated bank account. Details of this must be provided within their application form.
As a part of an application, details of costs including numerical values, which will be incurred through a course of study or educational project must be listed.
Awards from the Trust may also be subject to means testing. Therefore you must also provide comprehensive details of personal and household income.
Should you be dependent on a parent or guardian, section A of the Trust's application form is required to be filled out. Otherwise, only section B is required to be completed.
Please note that if you use a family, parental or guardian's address within East Lothian to apply then you will be deemed dependent on your family's income.
Applications are then pooled and assessed by the Trust on a quarterly basis.
