Katrina Lansdown is a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy and a Professional Practice Tutor within the Occupational Therapy and Arts Therapies Division at Queen Margaret University.

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1989 from Dorset House School of Occupational Therapy, Oxford (now Oxford Brookes University) and I completed a Masters of Medical Science in Primary Health Care in 1995 from Nottingham University.
I have worked in clinical, leadership and service development roles as an Occupational Therapist for 36 years, in the NHS, Social Services and the charity sector. My key area of practice has been working with people with long term progressive conditions and their families, in the community, outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation settings.
I was Advanced Occupational Therapy Practitioner in Progressive Neurology in NHS Lothian, and most recently worked in Palliative Care. My areas of interest and experience include Practice Education, Neurological Rehabilitation, Palliative Rehabilitation and Care, Postural Management, Person Centred Care and Self management.
I was a member of the National Care Framework Development Group for Huntington's Disease (funded by Scottish Government) and contributed to the creation of care and support standards for people with Huntington's Disease.
I joined QMU in 2025 as Lecturer in Occupational Therapy and Professional Practice Tutor.

I have been involved in clinical teaching throughout my career supporting cohorts of newly qualified Occupational Therapists, as a Practice Educator, contributing to multi disciplinary teaching, providing mandatory training and as a guest lecturer at QMU.
My key teaching role at QMU is supporting students on the Masters in Occupational Therapy and BSc Occupational Therapy to develop and apply the skills, knowledge and behaviours to succeed in the Practice Based Learning elements of their degrees, and be ready for safe effective practice as qualified Occupational Therapists.
