QMU set to host WomenBeing Conference
Queen Margaret University is looking forward to hosting the second WomenBeing Conference, which will run from 8 – 11 March to coincide with International Women’s Day.
The WomenBeing Conference is an interdisciplinary event which aims to create an international forum for debate and exchange on the main challenges facing women today and proposed solutions to these challenges.
More than 100 delegates are expected to attend the conference - among them academics, researchers, social activists, journalists and private individuals. The event will feature film-screenings, workshops, academic presentations and a series of talks delivered in partnership with IberoDocs Festival.
Claire Seaman, Professor of Business, Enterprise and Management at Queen Margaret University (QMU), said one of the conference highlights is sure to be the talk and workshop on gender mainstreaming presented by gender equality experts, Katarina Fehir and Anders Eriksson, from Malmö City Council in Sweden.
“The inaugural WomenBeing Conference held at QMU in 2017 saw 93 delegates attend from more than 30 countries, while some 1000 people watched live-streams and recordings of talks.”
“QMU is really proud to be home to this event for the second time and to be a part of the international conversation about gender, the status of women and women’s rights. And what better time to be reflecting on these issues than around International Women’s Day,” Prof Seaman said.
