Queen Margaret University set to be one of the first venues in Lothian for the mass COVID-19 vaccination programme

Queen Margaret University is pleased to confirm that it is has been selected as one of the first venues in Lothian for “Wave 2” of the mass COVID-19 vaccination programme, which is expected to begin in February.

It is expected that a section of the University’s car park will be used as a drive-through vaccination centre, capable of vaccinating up to 8,000 people a week at around 12 vaccination stations.

QMU was identified by NHS Lothian along with the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) and the Pyramids Business Park (PBP) in West Lothian.

Sir Paul Grice, Principal of the University said: ‘We are delighted to be able to play this part in the national effort to run the biggest mass vaccination programme ever undertaken. I am very grateful for the efforts of staff across the University to facilitate this, and to East Lothian Council for its support in putting the arrangements in place to allow it to happen.”
