Professor Jan Dewing awarded Sigma European Award for Excellence in Research
Professor Jan Dewing, Sue Pembrey Chair of Nursing and Director of the Centre for Person-centred Practice Research at Queen Margaret University (QMU), Edinburgh, has been awarded the prestigious Sigma European Award for Excellence in Nursing Research at the Sigma European Conference on 28 May.
Throughout her career, Professor Dewing's work has focused on person-centredness through practice development approaches most often in services for older persons. She has been engaged in research on a national and international level and has over two hundred publications across high impact nursing and health journals. Professor Dewing is also the founding editor of the International Practice Development Journal and was appointed Editor of Nursing Philosophy this year.
Internationally recognised as an expert in person-centred practice and research, Professor Dewing led on the development of QMU nursing becoming a Chapter of Sigma Global; the 'Omega Xi Chapter' was chartered in October 2019, with Professor Dewing as Chapter President. The University's affiliation with Sigma provides opportunities for both nursing staff and students to work collaboratively with not only other chapters in the UK but also the wider global nursing community.

This award is a tangible demonstration of the amazing research we are leading at QMU."
