QMU Business Management student in Scottish Squash Open

By Press Office

Queen Margaret University student and Scottish Squash player, Chris Leiper, has earned a place in next month’s Springfield Scottish Squash Open.

Chris, who is in his final year of the BA (Hons) Business Management course at QMU, is a semi-professional squash player and has been involved in the Scottish Squash performance system for nearly 15 years.

The 25-year-old from Aberdeen is one of three Scots to have secured a place via wildcard in the competition which takes place on 3 – 7 April at Oriam, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre, in Edinburgh.

Chris was first introduced to the sport at an early age by his parents, and admits that at times, balancing his sporting commitments with his academic responsibilities is difficult. “It’s all down to planning - early mornings and late nights,” he said. “[I don’t lead] a typical student lifestyle!”

In addition to being drawn against Jordan’s Mohammad Alsarraj in round one of the Springfield Scottish Squash Open, Chris will return to competitive action this weekend (16 - 17 March) at the Scottish Student Squash Championships, which will also be held at Oriam.
