QMU nursing team shortlisted in student awards
Queen Margaret University’s (QMU) nursing team has been shortlisted in five categories of the prestigious Student Nursing Times 2019 Awards.
The Student Nursing Times 2019 Awards celebrate and support the achievements of the student nursing community across the length and breadth of the UK.
The University’s nursing team are currently ranked third in Scotland and fourth in the UK in the Guardian University League Table 2019, so this most recent success is further evidence of QMU’s high reputation and track record in the field of student nursing.
QMU has been nominated in the following categories:
Learner of the Year (Post-registration);
Nurse Education Provider of the Year (Pre-registration);
Partnership of the Year;
Student Experience; and
Student Nurse of the Year (adult).
The category of Student Nurse of the Year (adult) includes QMU student Stephanie Norton-Alexander, and Learner of the Year (Post-registration) includes Karen Rennie, a QMU PhD student and research assistant.
The Partnership of the Year award has shortlisted QMU for the University’s work with Cyrenians. Through this partnership, QMU nursing students have the opportunity to learn about a range of health and wellbeing services and participate in live projects and community initiatives delivered by the Scotland-wide charity, which has been working with the homeless and vulnerable for almost half a century.
“Both Professor Brendan McCormack as Head of Division, and I as The Sue Pembrey Chair in Nursing, are extremely proud of the nursing team for nominating our collective work in several categories of these prestigious awards," said Professor Jan Dewing, Director of The Centre for Person-centred Practice Research at QMU.
“This recognition, alongside our other indicators, represents one of the multiple benefits we see from investing in the co-creation of a person-centred culture in the team. Definitely a champagne moment!”
The winners will be announced on Friday 26 April 2019 at a glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House in London.
