University to stage national debate on ‘Leading Change in Public Services’
Leading change in public services will debate by leading academics at an international research event taking place at Queen Margaret University (QMU), Edinburgh on Friday 13th May 2016.
From 8.50 am to 4.30 pm, the event will bring together some of the top thinkers in public administration to discuss the most recent developments in leading change in the age of austerity.
The event is particularly timely given the EU Referendum, elections for the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly, Northern Ireland Assembly, English local councils, London Mayor and London Assembly, as well as the police and crime commissioner elections.
Key speakers at the event include Professor Paul Cairney from the University of Stirling; Professor Paul Joyce from Universite Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium; and Professor Jari Stenvall from University of Tampere, Finland.
Research areas for discussion include redesign, talent management, big data and citizen engagement.
Commenting on the event, QMU’s Dr Ian Elliott, senior lecturer and co-director of the Edinburgh Master in Public Administration (MPA), said: “If you’re keen to take part in some serious discussions about leading change in public services during some of the most challenging years in living memory, then this is a great opportunity for you to have your say, shares ideas and research, as well as debate the issues with your colleagues across the industry.”
The free event will appeal to professionals from Scotland’s public sector, as well as those across the UK industry. The event is sponsored by the Joint University Council's Public Administration Committee of which QMU is an institutional member.
