QMU has signed up to the national Scottish Business Pledge, as part of its ongoing commitment to delivering fairness and equality in the workplace.
The Scottish Business Pledge is a values-led partnership between the Scottish Government and business. It is a shared ambition of boosting productivity, competitiveness, sustainable employment, and workforce engagement and development.
Voluntary commitment to the Scottish Business Pledge includes paying staff the Living Wage or above and not using exploitative zero-hours contracts, making progress on diversity and gender balance and playing an active role in the community.
QMU has also signed the Joint Recognition Agreement with the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), University and College Union (UCU), Unison and Unite. This agreement provides a framework through which all parties work towards the maintenance of good industrial relations at the university by joint participation in all matters of common interest.
Dee Denholm, Head of Human Resources at QMU, said: “Our commitment to the Scottish Business Pledge demonstrates how QMU is continuing to uphold some of the best in modern business practices and to embrace the principles of fairness, equality, opportunity and innovation across the whole institution. This voluntary code of business practice is also helping to guide and boost the future development of QMU.”
