QMU graduate secures internship at Queen Margaret University Students’ Union
QMU Public Relations and Media graduate, Mohammed Meah, has secured a communication and events internship with Queen Margaret University Students’ Union (QMUSU) through the University’s Careers & Employability team and Santander Universities SME Internship Programme.
Mohammed (25), who previously attended Harris Academy and Dundee College in Dundee, graduated with a BA (Hons) PR & Media from QMU in July 2015.
Mohammed was keen to build on the experience and skills he’d already acquired working for Edinburgh-based PR agency, the Holyrood Partnership.
The QMU Careers & Employability team matched Mohammed’s requirements with QMUSU, where he is now getting hands-on experience working on marketing and PR projects, including creating promotional videos, writing and distributing press releases and media liaison, as well as organising and promoting events during QMU’s 2015 Freshers’ week.
The internship is allowing Mohammed to develop the creative use of social media, blogs and add value to QMUSU’s annual marketing plan. Mohammed is also benefiting from one-to-one mentoring advice from QMU’s Press & PR Officer.
Commenting on his Communication and Events Officer role with QMUSU, Mohammed said: “I’m really grateful for the support given to me by QMUSU and QMU’s Careers and Employability team in helping me secure this placement.
“I’ve really enjoyed working as part of a dynamic, multi-cultural and diverse team at QMUSU. My internship has given me valuable events and communications skills and is definitely one of my best work experiences.
“QMU has a wide range of professionally relevant courses and support services that can really help kick-start your career.”
