Queen Margaret University has sustainability at its core, from it's award winning energy efficient building and biodiverse landscape, to its annual emissions reporting and integration of sustainable practices into degree courses. The university has a Sustainability Committee, student led Sustainability Society and a Active Travel Internship, all working to ensure the university continues to challenge, improve and learn.

The university has a wide range of ways for staff, students and the public to get involved. There is a community allotment, regular bike maintenance sessions, a hedgehog friendly campus team, as well as planning in place to create a campus Outdoor Education Hub.
