Macdonald Cardrona Hotel Golf & Spa nurtures future hospitality talent
19 year old Emma Driver, from Earlstone in the Borders, has won a coveted place on a training scheme provided by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, the UK’s largest independently owned hotel group.
Emma is one of only two students who beat off stiff competition to win the place based at the four star Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa by Peebles.
Emma, a 2nd year undergraduate (BA Honours in Hospitality and Tourism Management) at Queen Margaret University, is now on a nine month placement at the 99 bedroom hotel. Emma is part of an innovative scheme developed by the group.
Emma commented: “I am so proud to be part of the Macdonald family at Macdonald Cardrona Hotel Golf & Spa. I’m learning a great deal from experienced colleagues who give me invaluable insights into Macdonald Hotels’ commitment to ensure guests enjoy a warm welcome and friendly professional service. As part of the hotel operations family, I’m also learning about the group’s commitment to always serve diners the finest freshest produce.
“There’s a lot to learn and I’d love to return here one day in a senior role. This undergraduate scheme is certainly giving me all the tools to achieve that goal.”
