Hi, I’m Ryan Kearney and I’m a 4th year Public Sociology student. I first got involved with the Peer Assisted Learning Scheme (PALS) in 3rd year after being recommended to be a leader by one of my sociology lecturers.

Being a leader gives me the opportunity to build up skills such as working on the best way to organise a session as well as work on personal skills such as public speaking and how best to condense coursework for the hour sessions we run. This has helped me revise areas of sociology I have not covered in a while, which I have found very useful when working on my dissertation. I would recommend being a PALS leader as it is extremely rewarding to help other students with their workload and to see the positive outcomes of this.
