Situated at the heart of the campus, Queen Margaret University Students’ Union is a not-for-profit organisation led by students. The Students’ Union is a registered charity and works to ensure that students have the best university experience while studying at QMU. We offer advice and support, student representation, extra-curricular activities and volunteer opportunities.

Your Voice

The main purpose of The Students' Union is to represent the students of Queen Margaret University. As soon as you matriculate you’re automatically a member of the Students' Union, and can take part in all our activities.

Sports & Societies

Sports & Societies are led by the elected President - Student Activities (former Vice-President) and range from high performance sports such as football, rugby and badminton, to popular activities like theatre, anime and dance. The opportunities that Sports & Societies can offer are endless.

Anybody is welcome to join any sport or society; you can even create your own. Studies have proven that involvement in both sports and societies helps potential future employers see key skills and characteristics, including leadership, teamwork, dedication and determination. So taking part in a sport or society can also benefit your CV and employability.

The societies on offer at the Students' Union give you the opportunity to meet like-minded people who have similar interests to you. Together you can dance, compete, sing, act, debate, create campaigns, volunteer, fundraise and so much more.

Maggie’s Bar & Café

The Students’ Union is located just above Maggie’s Bar & Café, the social hub of the Students’ Union, where lots of our events also take place. Maggie's is located next to the Sports Hall, on the ground floor, just below the Union's offices. Chill out and meet friends in the most relaxed place on campus!

There are many ways to get involved with the Union, whether it’s by using Maggie’s, volunteering at one of our events, joining or even running a sport or society, or attending forums and committees to provide us with feedback about your student experience.
