QMU's Marketing Society hosts industry panel discussion

By Press Office

Queen Margaret University's (QMU) new Marketing Society hit the ground running last month, with a panel discussion entitled 'What is Marketing?'

The discussion was chaired by PR, Events and Marketing student Adrian Crighton, who was joined by Gregor Urquhart from the Scottish Government, Nadine Reilly from Stripe Communications, Ian Greenhill from Studio Something and Lyndsay Snoddon from The Union.

Topics covered ranged from the differences between agency and in-house marketing, and the challenges and benefits of each, to the panel's career journeys and how they have shaped them in becoming the marketers that they are today. The group then took questions from the floor on issues such as gender imbalance in the industry and common mistakes made by graduates when applying for jobs.

Adrian Crighton said: "The QMU Marketing Society has gotten off to a great start with our 'What is marketing?' panel discussion. Thank you to everyone who came and especially to our four speakers."
