About You

I completed my BSc in Biological Sciences at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. I also have my International Baccalaureate degree at Port Moody Secondary School in Canada. I have worked most recently as a Behavioural Interventionist with a 4 year old boy with Autism Spectrum disorder, working one-on-one with him to develop and improve social and language skills.

I saw that QMU had a great physiotherapy school that was recommended by other Canadian students, and the degree qualifies me to go back and work in Canada after taking the Canadian National exam.

I had visited Edinburgh briefly in 2014 and fell in love with the city and found that this would be the perfect way to spend more time here as well as study abroad.

The Course

I hope this course will give me the theoretical and practical skills necessary to qualify as a Physiotherapist in Canada and make a positive impact in peoples’ lives.

The workload is definitely much higher than in an undergrad course, so that has been challenging to adapt to, but I have found it super interesting and it’s reassuring to see the knowledge we get in class follow the trends in research and healthcare we see in the country and in various health services. I have found that many of the professors are knowledgeable and provide you with many resources to aid learning.

I am working as a Student Ambassador and Class Rep (unpaid) currently. The scholarship I received helped make this feasible for me.

Life after graduation

I would like to qualify and work in Canada as a registered Physiotherapist. I might decide to stick around in Scotland for a while before I head back to do that.
