Postgraduate Taught

Medical Imaging - Master's Framework for Post-Registration Study*

In the Academic year of 2019-20 the Division of Dietetics, Nutrition, Biological Sciences, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Radiography (DPPR) will be launching an exciting, educationally and practice relevant Postgraduate Framework.

The Framework will draw on existing post-registration courses, restructured in both content and form to offer greater flexibility in choice and modes of study that are responsive to individual needs and todays culture of work and learning. Part time, full time, work based, face-to-face and online study options will be available. Individual modules can be taken for the purposes of continuous professional development or can lead to a variety of qualifications such as PgCert, PgDip or Masters. Further information on the postgraduate framework can be found on our framework overview page.

Modules available through the Medical Imaging Pathway will enable students to develop theoretical knowledge and enhanced clinical skills within their chosen modality of magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography. In addition, clinically work based modules will offer opportunities to undertake pre-approved competency based frameworks within a specified scope of practice. Pathway modules will incorporate the latest developments within imaging, allowing graduates to be leaders in their field of practice and facilitate the transition to advanced practitioner.

We anticipate that applications for the Medical Imaging Pathway will open towards the end of January 2019.

This part-time MSc provides CPD opportunities for diagnostic radiographers and other AHPs working with the specific specialist modalities. The course aims to provide flexibility in learning with the opportunity for learners to select modules in order to support individual practice development.

This course does not lead to UK registration with the HCPC or the right to practice within the UK, but aims to foster an intellectual approach to personal and professional development, encouraging diagnostic radiographers to challenge and progress radiography practice in response to evolutionary change.

You will find case studies on student/graduates and staff profiles at the foot of this page.
