This module is for post-registration health and social care professionals and will give you the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills to be a person-centred facilitator, with an ultimate aim of embedding person-centredness within teams and workplaces. The course is facilitated by international experts in person-centred practice. Academic accreditation is optional.

You will have space to critically explore your values and beliefs about person-centredness/person-centred culture and to experientially appraise contemporary approaches and methods of developing person-centredness. You will also be able to learn more about participatory approaches to evaluation in practice and the essential skills to become an effective facilitator in practice or to support others to do this. Throughout the five days you are offered facilitated active learning where you can consider your own practical knowledge, skills and underpinning assumptions of person-centeredness, practice development and facilitation. Throughout the course you will learn new methods and activities to use in your own facilitation practice.

You can opt to undertake 15 credits at SCQF Level 11 (PG level) by submitting an assignment. The assessment is through a 3000 word assignment  on your learning experience that includes an opportunity to critique the culture and context of your own workplace and consider your own development as a facilitator of person-centred practices.

The course is delivered over one week at QMU with an additional optional day for assignment preparation and a writing workshop.

This module is hosted by The Person-centred Practice Research International Community of Practice (ICoP) based at QMU.
