I am a Home Economics teacher with over 14 years experience teaching in Secondary Schools. I am also a Lecturer on the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) Home Economics at Queen Margaret University.

  • Overview

After graduating from Queen Margaret University in 1989 with a BA Degree in Home Economics I worked for Standard Life Assurance Company for 14 years where I specialised in Training and Development.

In 2004 I completed my PGDE(S) Home Economics at Strathclyde University. I then completed my Masters in Education at Stirling University where I developed a keen interest in the impact that personalisation and choice had on the engagement and motivation of learners.

I am the Scottish Qualifications Authority Principal Verifier for Health and Food Technology for National 3 to Advanced Higher. This role requires me to oversee a team of SQA Appointees to ensure that National standards are set and maintained across all secondary schools delivering these courses.
