I have worked with people with dementia in a practice and research capacity for the past 20 years: working as a nurse in a care home and pursuing my academic career as a lecturer in dementia. I am also a registered nurse and work one night shift a month in a care home for people with dementia; this allows me to maintain my nursing skills, connect with the everyday lives of people with dementia in care homes and teach with credibility.
