Ken Aitchison (PGDip, BSc Science), is a lecturer and the Health Sciences Academic Wiser Coordinator in the Dietetics, Nutrition & Biological Sciences, Physiotherapy, Podiatry & Radiography Division.

Currently my job is split into lecturer and widening participation and retention coordinator for the school of Health Sciences. My background is in drug clinical trials.

Lecturing

I currently lecture to students throughout Health Sciences and Psychology. Teaching in chemistry and physiology. I am also part of the manual handling training team.

Widening Access

I currently run the QMU Student Volunteer group, which visits schools and science festivals across East Central Scotland. I work with Royal Society of Edinburgh, Royal College of Surgeons, Royal College of Physicians, Children’s University, Midlothian, Dunbar and Edinburgh Science Festivals, as well as schools in Lothian, Fife and Borders.

My role also involves communicating with all the Allied Health Professions and looking at their access or retention issues.
