QMU secures over €79,000 in Erasmus+ funding to shape person-centred healthcare in Europe
Queen Margaret University (QMU), Edinburgh, has been awarded an Erasmus+ grant to develop the first pan-European curriculum in person-centred healthcare.
The project builds on an already established, strong global partnership led by QMU that exists to enhance person-centred healthcare practices. The €79,103 received by QMU will allow the university to deliver the new curriculum in conjunction with partner academic institutions in the UK, Norway, Slovenia, the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland.
The partnership between QMU, the University of Maribor, University College Dublin, Ulster University, the University of South-Eastern Norway and Fontys University of Applied Sciences, received a total of €390,603 towards the project, which aims to create an international curriculum framework that can be adopted for educating future person-centred healthcare practitioners.
Professor Brendan McCormack, Head of the Division of Nursing and Occupational & Arts Therapies at QMU, said: "We're delighted to have received this funding. QMU leads in the provision of teaching and research in person-centred healthcare, an approach to healthcare delivery that places the beliefs and values of patients and their families at the centre of decision-making. The grant will allow us to deliver a combination of sustainable learning, teaching and practice development outcomes using creative, collaborative and inclusive methodologies. What’s more, these opportunities will be available to people across six different countries.”
