A QMU graduate from Horley in Surrey has been awarded a top radiography prize at Queen Margaret University’s (QMU) recent graduation ceremony in Edinburgh.
Jayac Heal (23), who attended Oakwood School in Horley and The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham, has won the Society of Radiographers Professional Award for Academic Achievement after graduating with a BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography from QMU. The Society of Radiographers represents the professional, educational and workplace interests of radiographers in the UK and overseas.
Commenting on his radiography award and experience as a student at QMU, Jayac said: “Winning this award means a lot to me and shows that if you keep your head down and continue working hard you can overcome any obstacle.
“I chose QMU due to the varying placement opportunities it offers. This has helped me to become a well rounded radiographer and helped aid my employability.”
Jayac is now planning to travel to America where he will be taking part in an observational placement in the Maryland Proton Treatment Center, which offers proton therapy as a highly advanced and precise form of radiation to treat cancer.
