About Us - LEAD
Established in late 2021, our new Learning Enhancement and Academic Development (LEAD) Centre is part of our strategic commitment to provide distinctive, accessible and high quality education.
Led by Prof Catriona Bell, the centre will provide strategic leadership of the enhancement of learning, teaching and assessment across the University, including our domestic and international collaborative partnerships and online learning portfolio.
In alignment with QMU’s Strategic Plan (2020-2025), partnership and collaboration will be a key feature of the LEAD centre’s approach to working with both internal and external stakeholders.
Our students are core stakeholders, and we will champion a ‘Students as Partners’ approach to co-creation of the overall curriculum and student experience. We will also collaborate with colleagues across Scotland, the rest of the UK and internationally to share and celebrate best practice in learning enhancement, academic development, and leadership of learning and teaching.
Our core areas of initial focus include:
- Offering academic writing and study skills support to students through our Effective Learning Service
- Offering continuing professional development (CPD) workshops for staff
- Curating useful resources and a calendar of available external CPD events
- Supporting colleagues to work towards Fellowship of Advance HE
- Developing and supporting a pipeline of QMU Leaders of Learning and Teaching
- Supporting the implementation of the QMU Student Experience Strategy
As the Centre develops further we will also support pedagogic research and scholarship.
This website will be developed further soon. In the meantime, please email Catriona Bell with any queries.
