Year of study: fourth year

What has been the highlight of your time at QMU so far?

The opportunity to meet people with diverse backgrounds and experiences! I’ve lived on campus for all 4 years of my degree and have met students from all over the world. As a class representative, I was able to participate in the academic aspect of the university by being a member of the academic board and the Senate. Being an international student, these experiences are invaluable and have helped further develop my character and deepen my understanding of and appreciation for the local culture.

What is the one thing you wish you knew before coming to university at QMU?

How to dress aptly for the weather! The weather is forever changing and unpredictable, but I find that this is the beauty of Edinburgh. In all honestly, I felt sufficiently prepared before moving to Edinburgh to start my degree as I spoke to both the academic and admissions staff from QMU, who have been incredibly welcoming and supportive by giving me a lot of helpful information. I felt very reassured and I can affirm that studying at QMU has been a great decision.

What is your favourite thing about being an ambassador for QMU?

Being involved in promoting QMU and sharing knowledge with prospective students! As an ambassador, I have been a part of the Open Days and have conducted campus tours, as well as spoken to prospective students online. I appreciate being able to share my experiences and perspective as an international student living on campus, as well as offer support to prospective and current students for them to have the best experience as a student in QMU.
